Welcome to the Davenport Radio Amateur Club

With over 180 members, the Davenport Radio Amateur Club is dedicated to public service, emergency communications, and the advancement of amateur radio through education and technical excellence.

First, I would like to thank the membership for electing me club president. I am going to try and take the I out of the club and put We back inplace so all feel they can make a difference, but it takes all of us working together to make things work.

I hope we are able to hold training classes, preceeded by public demonstrations of ham radio. Ham radio needs much more public exposure.

We need to make our meetings more FUN, perhaps by making the business meetings shorter, providing programs, demonstrations and discussions on various topics related to radio.

We're sure that every member knows at least one other member who no longer attends meetings or club functions. We urge you to call or visit those persons and invite them back to the club.

Tell us what you want to do in ham radio. Write us a note, or simply bring it up at a meeting. We need to have FUN with ham radio. After all if it isn't fun, people just aren't going to bother doing it. Some of the suggestions we have received are:

Foxhunts
Project night
Contests
Tailgate Parties
Weiner Roast/BBQ/Picnic
Special Event Stations
Tailgate at other hamfests

The Club is open to new ideas and change. Ham radio is changing as new technology emerges and the internet eats away at our hobby.
